What Makes the 911 Dakar Unique?
The Porsche 911 Dakar is based on the Carrera 4 GTS but has several modifications that make it a formidable off-roading machine. Key features include:
Increased Ground Clearance: The Dakar boasts an additional 50 mm (1.97 inches) of ground clearance, with an extra 30 mm (1.1 inches) accessible at the touch of a button for serious off-roading.
Bespoke Off-Road Tires: Porsche commissioned Pirelli to design a twin-carcass tire specifically for this model, almost impossible to puncture and suitable for various terrains.
GT3 Components: The Dakar incorporates parts from the GT3, such as the CFRP bonnet, lightweight battery, and active engine mounts.
Advanced Drive Modes: Unique to the Dakar are two additional drive modes—"Off Road" for enhanced traction and "Rallye" for a rear torque bias, perfect for going sideways on loose surfaces.
Lightweight Construction: With thin glass, deleted rear seats, and lightweight components, the Dakar maintains a low weight of 3538 pounds, just 22 pounds more than the Carrera GTS.
